Founded in 1996 by Conductor Emeritus Casey Bork, the Whitehouse Wind Symphony is a community concert band of approximately 50 amateur and professional musicians under the direction of James P. Sheeley, Jr. Based in Whitehouse, the Symphony performs throughout central and northern New Jersey, is a member of the Association of Concert Bands and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational association.

The Whitehouse Wind Symphony's mission is to enrich the community through music by providing high-quality performances while fostering an enjoyable, challenging and educational musical experience for its members.

The Whitehouse Wind Symphony develops concert programs around a variety of musical themes designed to engage audiences and challenge its musicians. Its annual children's concert and holiday concert series are among its most anticipated offerings. The symphony performs a wide range of wind band literature, with a particular appreciation for works from the first half of the 20th century, often considered the Golden Era of American concert bands. Its repertoire also includes popular music, Broadway show selections, marches from around the world and original compositions and arrangements, including works written specifically for the ensemble by its own members.

Over the years, the Whitehouse Wind Symphony has performed in communities throughout the region, including Bedminster, Branchburg, Clinton, Flemington, Hillsborough, Ringoes, Somerville and the Whitehouse and Whitehouse Station sections of Readington Township. The Symphony is the only concert band known to have performed at the historic Hunterdon County Courthouse in Flemington in its 185+-year history.

All concerts are free, and many are livestreamed or shared on the symphony's Facebook page and YouTube channel, extending access to its music beyond the concert venue.

Thanks to strong community support, the Whitehouse Wind Symphony was recognized as a 2026 Hunterdon Happening List winner in the favorite musician/band category, marking its eighth time receiving this recognition. The symphony has also received grant funding through the Hunterdon County Cultural and Heritage Commission's Local Arts Program, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

The Whitehouse Wind Symphony welcomes qualified musicians who enjoy making music as part of a collaborative ensemble. Membership is open to amateur and professional musicians, including high school students who demonstrate an advanced level of playing ability. Because the symphony strives to maintain balanced instrumentation, openings depend on the ensemble's current needs.

Rehearsals are held Tuesday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., September through June, at Whitehouse United Methodist Church.

Interested in joining the band? Prospective members are encouraged to visit the website or email the symphony using the contact information. Please include the instrument played and a brief introduction describing musical experience and background. Contact the symphony before attending a rehearsal so the ensemble can prepare for prospective members.

Community volunteers are also welcome. Volunteers help concerts run smoothly by ushering and assisting with setup and cleanup. Students seeking community service hours are encouraged to participate. Fundraising support is also appreciated.

Whether performing, volunteering, attending concerts or supporting fundraising efforts, community members play an important role in the symphony's continued success. To learn more about joining the band or volunteering, visit www.WhitehouseWindSymphony.org or email WhitehouseWindSymphony@gmail.com. The Symphony looks forward to welcoming new members and volunteers.
